Eendracht is an ex-Dutch inland commercial waterways transport ship. it has a hull shape which is particularly Dutch and is called a "Tjalk". Eendracht is a specific model Tjalk from the province of Groningen called a "Groningen" or "bol" Tjalk. The vessel was commissioned by the Mars family and built in 1916 at the Foxholterberg yard in Foxhol, Groningen, Netherlands. The barge was originally built as a sailing vessel and transported vegetables and pat around the Northern provinces of The Netherlands. It had a maximum loaded displacement of 115 tons whilst working and the load marks can still be seen inscribed on the 4 corners of the hull. Its current displacement is approximately 65-70 tons.

The ship was originally constructed of riveted iron and the hull up to the bulwarks and decks is still the original construction. The upper works were constructed in 2004 and are of welded mild steel. The interior fit-out was completed by a classic yacht cabinet maker in 2004.

My wife and I bought Eendracht in Roanne, France in 2018. We have cruised throughout France and parts of Belgium and The Netherlands. We hope to get up into Friesland next year.
