Muzen was built in 1930 in Amsterdam as a motordekschuit used to carry cargo and as a towing vessel. She was originally 26M. She was registered in the Kadaster in 1947. At some point, she was converted to a non-commercial vessel and a cabin and wheelhouse were added.

Between 2011 and 2022, extensive work was done on "Lisel" to make her a liveaboard, including shortening her to 18.4M. The wheelhouse (which lifts off to allow full access to the engine room) was expanded, the superstructure rebuilt, new windows and a kitchen installed, insulation added; all done in keeping with her original style (including rivets!).

In 2023 we purchased her and have been finishing the project, including rebuilding the Kromhout engine, all new systems, 2 heads, and building out the wheelhouse.

We are a Canadian couple, based in the Netherlands. We renamed the ship to "Muzen", which reflects the 9 Greek mythological muses which inspired literature, science, and the arts. Muzen inspires us to explore Europe via the inland waterways on this historical ship.

We are working to get more information about the ship's history.
